Gerrard said: “I don’t think, after one good performance against Brazil, you can sit down a couple of days later and say everything’s great, everything’s going to be fine, we’ve turned the corner.
“We have to prove it over a long time. We have to go and beat Estonia and move up our group.
“Once we’ve qualified, we can say ‘Listen, it hasn’t been great but we’ve done the job to qualify’.
“Then we can go and prove to people we are a good team by doing well in a tournament.
“But after one game, we can’t say we’ve turned the corner. That would be wrong. We might go back to how we were in a couple of days’ time.”
