Terry along with Lampard, Cole, Dawson and Rooney have been allowed to return to their clubs, missing Tuesday’s Ghana clash in the run up to big Champions League fixtures later this month.
Strangely enough it means Terry, who resumed captaincy a year after being stripped of the honour amid controversy over the decision by Capello, will relinquish the role after only one game – albeit temporarily.
Gareth Barry is favourite to captain a fresh England side; Capello has stated he will change the whole starting 11 for Tuesday’s game.
