The Spaniard has been linked with a move to Newcastle’s rivals Sunderland in the January transfer window.
“When I first arrived I needed to get stronger and fitter. It was hard for me at first, but now I feel good,” Enrique told the Daily Express.
“It took me a bit of time to get used to the style of football here, but I am very happy in England and very happy playing for Newcastle.
“I know the club want to sign another full-back and I understand that as it is a risk to only have one.”
