Weiss joined Espanyol on a one-year loan deal from Manchester City in the summer, but has only made three appearances for the Spanish side.
“Something that is very important is that he is better able to communicate because that is something that can go against him,” Pochettino told a press conference.
“It is important that he can speak to his team-mates on the field. When he is ready he will have even more chances.
“Hopefully this adaption to the language, the physical side and the tactics will happen as soon as possible.”
“All players need time to show their value. We have to remember that he is only 21 and has come here from a very different league so he needs time,” the coach continued.
“We believe that he will bring great things to the team, but there are also other players that deserve to play. Everything will come good though.
“Everyone at the club is very is very pleased with him and right now he is going through a period of adaption.
“He had some minutes when the team required his contribution, but there are other circumstances that mean that I have used other players.”
