A report in a German business newspaper last week claimed the Glazers had sold a controlling stake in United to the Japanese company.
The Glazers have recently paid off £220million in high-interest loans, but it remains unsure how they have managed to pay it off.
Reports suggested that they had sold a stake in the club to Epson in order to pay off the high-interest loans.
But the Japanese printer manufacturer have confirmed to Ontheminute.com that they are in talks with the club to become a Platinum Sponsor and are not looking to buy the Premier League giants.
A spokesperson for Epson told Ontheminute.com: “Epson can confirm that we are in discussions with Manchester United about a sponsorship partnership – but we have not bought the club.
“We look forward to sharing our plans with our colleagues from the media, our customers and employees in due course.
“We are discussing a sponsorship deal with the club as Official Office Equipment Partner.”
