Fabianski looks set to start the Carlin Cup clash against Sheffield United tomorrow.
He said: “I do not want to wait too long to be the first-choice keeper, so I just have to do all I can to make it happen as soon as possible.
“If you wait, you will get your chance, but obviously I will just carry on working hard.
“Last season I had some opportunities to play in the Carling Cup and, at the end, in the Premier League.
“It is really important to be patient.
“The best way to do that is to work really hard in training and to wait for your chance.
“If you get a chance then you have to perform well and take it.”
