The Gers had offered Bordeaux £4m for the 23 year-old midfielder but that came nowhere near the French club’s valuation. Faubert himself had wanted to join the SPL runners-up and when Bordeaux rejected that bid last week he responded by refusing to train with his team -mates.
Now the Hammers have come in with a substantially higher offer and, his agent Philippe Sol told the Sunday Herald, Bordeaux gave Faubert an ultimatum: West Ham or nowhere.
