Ferrara leaves his post with the Italy under 21 team to take up the role with Sampdoria.
He replaces Giuseppe Iachini as coach of the newly promoted Serie A club.
A statement from Sampdoria said: “Ciro Ferrara will be the new coach of Sampdoria. The agreement with the new Partenopeo tactician will be ratified in the next few days.”
