Mutu returned to action, after a nine-month suspension, in the goalless draw against Catania on Sunday.
“Mutu’s return is important, as he played a good match,” Mihajlovic told Sky Italia.
“We knew he would not be able to play an entire 90 minutes, but his characteristics are useful to the side.
“He has the ability to change a game, and how the team plays. He did enough, but we can still play a lot better in attack.
“Tonight, we played a good defensive match, but created little in attack. We had our issues, such as Mutu not playing for nine months, Santana having played three matches in a week, and Montolivo with his ankle.
“But the main thing was not to lose.”
