Il Corriere dello Sport reports that the Viola have shown an interest in signing the 22-year-old in the summer.
Fiorentina are keen to bring in Witsel as an replacement for Riccardo Montolivo, who is expected to leave the club this summer.
Witsel has also been linked with the likes of AC Milan and Bayern Munich.
Witsel’s current contract at Standard Liege is set to expire in the summer of 2015.
