A statement on La Viola’s official website said: “In consideration of Luca Toni’s painful metatarsal, it has been decided to proceed with surgery in the coming days.”
Fiorentina have given no indication for how long the Italy international striker will be out, but he is is certain to miss the last two games of the season.
Toni is linked with a summer move to Bayern Munich.
