Yokohama president Akira Kaetsu travelled to Spain on Thursday for talks with Espanyol over a move.
Nakamura has reportedly signed a two-year contract with Yokohama and will join the Japanese club for around £1.3million.
Nakamura failed to make an impact at Espanyol since joining the club from Celtic last summer.
