Former Spurs boss replaces Babbel as Stuttgart coach

Gross replace Markus Babbel who was sacked on Sunday after a poor first half of the season.

Babbel said at a press conference: “We had reached the point where personal destiny was no longer important.

“All that matters is VfB (Stuttgart). Everything has to be done for them and this is the measure which has been taken.

“I wish the new coaching team all the best.

“I hope they can find the right button and press it so that the team works again. I could not find it.”

He added: “There were some scenes which have led me to a lot of consideration and which I had never experienced in my whole career.

“Even the so-called football millionaires have not deserved to receive death threats and so much hatred.

“For some of your own fans to storm your bus – that tells me only that the football industry has not understood absolutely anything about the tragedy of Robert Enke.

“We had two 19-year-olds on the field who were scared stiff. The whole team was paralysed.

“The fans are mostly to blame for that.”
