The Senegalese forward was prolific last year and was linked with a move to a bigger club.
“For us he’s a key player, but his desire is to play for a big club”, Freiburg sporting director Dirk Dufner told Kicker.
Freiburg however are, Dufner also confirmed, hoping to keep hold of Cisse until at least the end of the season.
“For us the important thing is that he ends the season here.”
