The 20-year-old midfielder has yet to make his debut for Freiburg, but has impressed head coach Marcus Sorg while playing for the reserves.
Freiburg general manager Dirk Dufner told Deutsche Presseagentur: “We have decided to sign a new deal with Christian Bickel.
“He’s a talented midfielder and we are looking forward to watching him develop at our club.”
