Gerrard proved it by scoring Liverpool’s equaliser in the FA Cup clash with Everton on Sunday.
He said: “I’m a footballer, I focus on my football and I will continue to show that.
“But it’s not just about me. I’m happy to score goals but I’d love to be through without me scoring. We dominated the game and their goal was frustrating because we worked on defending set-pieces.
“I’m sure we can go there in the replay and win. We’ve done it before and we can do it again.
“It’s natural to be disappointed because we had far more chances. We have to be a bit more clinical in front of goal and watch the set-pieces.
“Both sides could do without the replay. We have just got to put in the same work-rate at Goodison and if we do we will beat them.”
