Gerrard said the much maligned forward was key for Liverpool in beating Man Utd in the FA Cup.
“Andy Carroll’s a good player. If it wasn’t for him today maybe we wouldn’t be in the draw tomorrow – he made a massive contribution today. Liverpool fans were superb – they never let us down. They realised we were very tired from midweek (when Liverpool knocked Man City out of the Carling Cup) but they suck goals in for us.”
