But Gibson has admitted that he was unhappy with the lack of first-team football at Old Trafford at one stage.
Gibson told News of the World: “I was unhappy not playing every week and I thought to myself ‘I either give this a good go and work as hard as I can to get into this team or else I’m going to have to settle for something less’.
“It was the fear of having to leave Manchester United that pushed me on. I never want to leave this club and am determined to see out the rest of my career here.”
