He has not played since before Euro 2012 but has had a good start to the season with Lyon.
“He made a good start to the season in August and he is at ease in Lyon,” said Deschamps of Gourcuff.
“I wanted to see how he does in the squad ahead of the big games that we will face next year.
“He can play up front or deeper and he is such a creative player who can bring the best out of others.
“When he is on the top of his game, as he is at the moment, he can be an important member of any team.”
