The Greece international has had limited opportunities at the Bundesliga outfit this season.
“He is disappointed with his situation,” Bayer chief executive Wolfgang Holzhauser told dpa.
“On the other hand he accepts the fact that Stephan Kiessling and Patrick Helmes play really well together up front.
“We know that he wants to leave and we will help him if some offers come.”
