Jol said after the match: “Gladbach made life very difficult for us, and stood deep defensively. Despite that we went into the lead early on, but then were not able to score a second goal.
“We know that we have to play better, but we have played twice in the last week. Therefore I have to pay a huge compliment to my team. 13 points after six games is a fine haul.
“We owe the fans big thank you. They knew that we were in a tough game, but supported us throughout.
“So I’m delighted for them that were able to win today.
“We have an important game in the week. We really want to reach the Group stage of the Uefa Cup and we need at least a draw. We will prepare well and I’m sure that we will have our chances in Romania.”
