The 22-year-old has recently been strongly linked with the likes of Liverpool, Ajax and Juventus.
Nordfeldt joins Heerenveen on a free transfer as his contract with Swedish side Brommapojkarna expired in January.
The highly-rated youngster has signed a contract that will keep him at Heerenveen until the summer of 2015.
Nordfeldt told SC Heerenveen TV: “I think it’s a fantastic club. When I got here yesterday (Monday) for the first time, I immediately got a good impression.
“The facilities and opportunities for the players are good. It looks good.
“The club has faith in me, but I will have to prove that I am the first-choice goalkeeper.
“I am strong in the air, have a good response and my footwork is good. But I’m still young and want to improve in everything.”
