Heitinga suffered a head injury in Sunday’s 2-0 loss to Real Mallorca and scans on Tuesday morning has ruled him out of the World Cup qualifier.
“I can’t say much about it at the moment,” he told De Telegraaf.
“I have a headache but that could go quite quickly. On the other hand, you hear of people suffering from it for a long time. It’s a case of wait and see,” he added.
“I can’t remember anything from the collision with David Navarro. I was unconscious for five to seven minutes and woke up in an ambulance.
“Initial tests showed I had a concussion and I broke a bone in my eye socket. My eye is also swollen shut because of the incident.”
