The 18-year-old has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him with Basel until the summer of 2016.
“We are pleased to be able to tie down, on a long-term contract, a German-speaking player who is also a top talent,” Hoffenheim sporting director Ernst Tanner said.
“He already has experience of international football with his country, despite his young age, and has already proven his potential.
“Here he will find the perfect conditions to continue his development and establish himself in the Bundesliga.”
