Hoilett’s current contract is set to expire at the end of next season.
He told the Lancashire Telegraph: “My time at the club has changed a lot. I am on the field more and I am enjoying my football.
“Of course when you are not playing and don’t know if you are going to come on and get any minutes it is frustrating. Of course you get frustrated, especially as a young kid you want to play.
“Steve Kean has been great for me, I have enjoyed the experience and I am looking forward to pushing on next season.
“Hopefully we will get something sorted (new contract). Of course I am happy with the club, I am enjoying myself and I am happy here.”
