De Jong suffered an knee injury in Holland’s match against Iceland on Saturday.
The Dutchman has been a big hit in the Bundesliga this season.
Romeo Castellen, who also plays for Hamburger SV, will be out of action for the next five to six months after undergoing yet another knee surgery.
Castellen has not played a single match so far this year due to the injury.
