Bullard returned to action after a ten-month injury nightmare against his former club Fulham in October.
“I thank the staff and physios,” he said.
“I was gagging to get out there but they put the reins on sometimes and they know what’s best when you are too eager.”
“I played in a reserve game the day after Fulham and took a big whack on the shin. I worried a little bit, it was just a little bit down from the knee.
“We had a long chat and decided it wasn’t worth the risk. I’d waited nine months, so what was another game.”
