Huntelaar believes the brace could prove to be ‘a turning point’ for his career with the Rossoneri.
He told Sky Italia: “I worked hard to play and to score, so I’m very happy it finally went in and hope things will keep getting better like this.
“Everybody was happy for me and we all celebrated together, so I feel very much a part of this group.”
Huntelaar has been linked with a January move away from the Rossoneri after failing to make an impact at the club since joining from Real Madrid.
He added: “I told everybody in the club I play for Milan, will fight here and tonight was a really nice moment.
“It was difficult at the start, we didn’t play well and neither did I, but I am working hard and hopefully this can be the turning point.”
