Ipswich boss keen to keep Sunderland duo

Colback and Murphy has impressed while on loan at Portman Road and Keane is keen to keep the duo at the club.

But Sunderland forward David Healy’s prospects of earning a deal at Ipswich looks slim due to his injury problems.

“We will see what happens,” said Keane in The Journal. “I had a chat with Brucie on Saturday morning about them.

“We will have a look at it over the next few weeks and I know he will be very keen to get his lads back, Murphy and Colback have done very, very well.

“We will not be able to do anything with Jack I don’t think because he is such a promising player, but I’ll talk to Steve.

“A lot of this stuff won’t be done until later in the summer, I don’t think – Brucie will probably want to take them back to take a look at them.

“We had David Healy as well, he picked up an injury and that obviously did not help him. All of those players will have good options in the summer. Murphs has scored six goals for us in the short time he has been here and that will create awareness from other clubs.

“Murphs has done quite well for us, but there are lots of things to consider in the summer – can we agree fees for them, do players want to come and the rest. Then there is the wages to look at as well. So there is a long way to go.”
