Lee-Barrett had been on with Ipswich up until he was 15 and has had spells with Weymouth and Coventry, before becoming a first-team regular at Hartlepool.
Lee-Barrett told the club’s official website: “With Shane leaving this week, I got a call from the manager offering me a chance here and grabbed it.
“It’s a great opportunity for me to join a top club. I can only benefit from training alongside Richard Wright but I want to push him for his place as much as I can.”
