“This club has moved mountains over the last few years to get where it is today.
“Chris is a great keeper, a great professional and a great lad. We knew we wanted him and just thought it was best for everyone concerned if we got it out of the way. Thankfully, Liverpool agreed.
“But you only see some of the players around to see the progress we have made.
“Apart from Chris, we have Emile Heskey and Leighton Baines, who I both think can play for England. We also have Dutch internationals and Scottish internationals.
“This is a great club to be at and we want to improve all the time. The people connected with us, in whatever capacity, should be absolutely proud of where we are.”
