The Black Cats have so far signed Fraizer Campbell from Manchester United and Paraguay captain Paulo Da Silva.
“I think he’s a good man and a good manager,” Jones told Sky Sports News about his early impressions of Bruce. “Hopefully I will get to know him over the next few seasons.
“I think things will click for us at Sunderland and we will be higher up the table than last season.
“More than likely every team needs to strengthen and I think we do need to strengthen.
“It’s a good sign that bodies have been coming in and hopefully there will be quite a few more coming in to strengthen our team for the new season.”
