It was expected that the 33-year-old would leave Lyon in the summer, but Juninho insists he wants to stay at the club.
“I am 33-years-old and I imagine I won’t play all the matches anymore. However, I do not fear competition,” Juninho told L’Equipe.
“Did I ever think about leaving Lyon? Just once, when I came to the end of my first four-year contract.
“I was 31-years-old and it was logical to consider my future. When (former manager) Gerard Houllier left I had a huge offer from Galatasaray and another proposal this year from United Arab Emirates.
“I did think about it but I had to consider my family.”
