“The important thing this evening was to advance to the next stage,” the coach told Corriere Dello Sport. “We had a 2-1 lead from the first leg, and we tried to score tonight, but they saved a few shots on the line.
“At half-time, I preferred that the team brought home the result, only choosing to counterattack. It was not important that we won tonight, but getting through to the next stage.
“Some of my players were not in optimal condition, but I was pleased to see the side not concede a goal.”
