Keane was verbally abused by a fan near the dugout in their Carling Cup win on Tuesday.
He said: “There is no chance of me walking away. But I did not come here to be liked and popular.
“I came here to do a job. If I have to stir my players up and supporters I will do it.
“I am involved because I love the game and I love winning. I signed a three-year deal and we are on course to achieve what I want.
“I count my blessings at being manager of Sunderland. I am very happy.”
