Kluivert watched the 17-year-old in action for Anderlecht in the Europa League loss to Ajax last week.
“I wasn’t too impressed with his performance against Ajax last week. However, people often forget that he’s only 17. I takes time to become one of Europe’s best and he won’t be among the absolute best next term either,” said Kluivert to La Derniere Heure.
“His best years are yet to come, but there’s no doubt that he has what it takes to succeed. He’s very fast, is physically extremely strong and has superb technique. He should always try to go for goal in the area in an attempt to score more goals.
“He isn’t the most consistent performer yet, but that’s just a matter of time and experience.
“If I were him, I wouldn’t join a top European club right away. A club like Ajax would be the perfect stepping stone for Lukaku, but he’s probably too expensive for them.
“We should be very careful not to raise expectations too high when he decides to join a club like Chelsea or Manchester City.”
