AC Milan confirmed on Monday that the England midfielder would return to the club on a six-month loan deal in January.
Arena believes the deal means his team can focus on on-field matters ahead of the second leg of their clash with Chivas USA in the Western Conference Semi-final Series. The first ame between the two ended in a 2-2 draw.
Arena told Sky Sports News: “It’s been publicised for two months now.
“Our team has been well aware of it but we just want to put that to bed and get it over with.
“We think it’s the right thing for David to do given the circumstances with England for the next World Cup and we would rather get that taken care of now and move forward.”
