Cuevas has spent the last three years with Atletico, but was not a part of Abel Resino’s plans for the future.
“Club Atletico de Madrid would like to express their thanks to Miguel de las Cuevas for the effort and professionalism that he has demonstrated while wearing the red and white jersey, and wishes him the best of luck in the new stage that he is about to embark upon,” read a statement on the Atletico Madrid website.
“The midfielder has formed part of the ‘rojiblanco’ squad for the past three seasons, after having joined them from Hercules. Last season, he played a good number of matches, helping the team qualify for the Champions League play-off round.”
