Lazio President Claudio Lotito has promised fans to strengthen the side in January.
The 27-year-old joined City in the summer of 2007, but reports suggest the Brazilian has fallen out with manager Mark Hughes.
Reports also suggests Lazio are looking to sign a new goalkeeper in January.
