Hargreaves is without a club after his contract at Manchester United expired earlier in the summer.
“I finally spoke to him one week ago and he knows if he wants to come he is more than welcome,” Eriksson told the Leicester Mercury.
“We have not made an offer to him. We have taken in Johnson and Fernandes, so it is not a priority position.
“Owen is a fantastic player if he is fit. If he wants to come he will phone me for sure.”
