The 23-year-old had been a hit at Leeds United since joining the club in a £200,000 deal just 18 months ago.
The Ivory international winger completed a move to French giants St Etienne before the transfer window closed last night.
“He is one who we discussed but there were a lot of clubs who had him on a so-called list,” Eriksson told the Leicester Mercury.
“He was one for us, possibly, along with many others.”
