The Sun reports that Eriksson will make an offer for the 31-year-old striker in the next 48 hours.
Eriksson is confident that the Republic of Ireland striker is ready to join the Championship side.
The Swedish gaffer has brought in 11 players over the summer.
Eriksson said: “I always said if we can get a striker with a good goalscoring record, we are going to try. If there is a proven striker who can score 20 goals then we’ll work hard to bring him in.”
