Latics manager Steve Bruce is keen to bring in the former Villarreal midfielder in a summer move.
“I appreciate the Premier League. It’s the best one there is, and it’s very physical, which I like,” Mavuba told the French press.
“People may say that I’m born to play in the Premier League, but we’ll need to wait until the end of the season before we see about that.”
“Lille are doing well at the moment and could yet qualify for the Champions League – that’s a major deal,” he added.
“However, we need to wait until the end of the season.”
