Benitez said: “I did not have a big problem with Rob Styles for making a bad decision.
“He apologised and we all make mistakes. But I do not like to see big-name players, international players, put referees under real pressure by questioning decisions and pushing all the time.
“We have meetings all the time where we say we must try to help the referees and we will tell our players to be nice and do the right things.
“It has been the same in the last three years or maybe the last 10 years.
“We must use the technology we have available. We must use it for disciplinary matters.
“I would say to the fourth officials they must look out for players who put too much pressure on referees. And if the TV evidence supports that, then ban those players for three matches.
“The message would soon go out to those players that they must be more careful because they are being caught on TV.”
