Benitez said: “Sometimes doing the easy thing is actually the most difficult in football. With Peter, it is clear he has real ability and real skills, but I think sometimes he tries too hard to show people how good he really is.
“If he can realise that sometimes it is the simple things he must do, then he will play here for years. He doesn’t need to show people how good he is, he just has to perform in the way that is best for the team. We brought him here to be a target man, and even though it is clear he is very skilful, he also has the qualities that we need to lead the line.”
