The Ukraine international will join Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer.
Benitez said: “He’s a player with pace, good movement and experience. He played in the World Cup for Ukraine with Shevchenko ahead of him and he’s played in the Bundesliga for years.
“Each year he has scored between 10 and 15 goals, so in the market he is a very good signing for us. I am not thinking he will be our top scorer with 20 goals, but he is a very good player who was available in the market.”
