The 18-year-old has been linked with clubs across Europe after a number of impressive performances for Swedish side Djurgarden this season.
“I do not comment on individual clubs’ interest, but the player in question is one of Allsvenskan’s talents and is only 18 years old,” Djurgarden chief scout Khaled El-Ahmad told fotbollskanalen.se.
“It had been misconduct by the big leagues not to follow him.”
Amartey’s agent, Patrick Dark, has refused to comment on whether Liverpool had made an approach for the talented defender.
