Dalglish responded to claims he has already begun talks over his position becoming permanent saying:
“As regards the job, I’ve seen in the papers that I’ve asked for a four-year contract but I don’t know anything about that. I don’t know who I was supposed to have asked.”
“I’ve also seen that I was offered two years, but I don’t know who sent that in…but there have been no detailed discussions about the future and there is nothing to say yet. For me that’s no problem.”
Liverpool owner John W Henry added following the 2-0 win at Sunderland:
“We are working on the future. But what is going on in that regard is private. It is something called the Liverpool way. You do these things behind closed doors. I am not going to talk about these things, but Kenny Dalglish has done very well.”
