“I’m hoping he will be the new Ian Rush and I’m sure every Liverpool supporter is hoping the same,” said Rush.
“What I have seen so far is that he can cope with the physical side and the pace of the English game which for a foreign player, shows what a bright future he will have here.
“I think he can only get better.”
He added: “I am reminded a lot of myself when I see Fernando play, with his pace, movement and awareness around him.”
