Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has turned his attention from one left-footer, Gareth Barry, to another, Gareth Bale, according to the Sun.
Following the departure of John Arne Riise this summer, Benitez is keen to bring in more left-footers to Anfield.
Manchester United and several other Premier League clubs was linked with the youngster when he was at Southampton, but the 18-year-old ended up joining Tottenham.
